Military Women Honored for Memorial Day

On this Memorial Day we give a heart felt thanks to the men and women serving in our military. Since the Iraq war started in 2003 there has been over 4300 deaths of U.S. soldiers according to Icasualties.org, 111 that are female fatalities.

Often I think of the military as a man’s realm, but there is nearly two million women veterans and in some why women have served in every conflict from the American Revolution war to today’s wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Last week members of the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues honored the women currently in the military, in addition to women veterans at their 12th Annual Women in The Military Wreath Laying Ceremony. One enlisted woman from each service branch was honored for her superior performance throughout her career. Read more at Military.com.
